John Earl Oliver, Jr.

John Earl Oliver, Jr peacefully passed in his sleep September 11th, 2026 in Austin, Texas at the age of 96, having lived a long and happy life. He was born August 4th, 1930 in Wyoming and greatly enjoyed telling stories of the hardships and simple pleasures of growing up in Newcastle. At the age of 17 years, he enlisted and served in the National Guard of Wyoming for 3 years. He was later selected to serve as a Nuclear Weapons officer in the United States Air Force. John studied at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, and received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1953. Whereupon he went on to have a highly successful career, eventually establishing his own petroleum chemicals company Completion Fluids. It brought him much joy and pride to run that with his son John Oliver III until his passing in November 2020.
He is lovingly remembered by his younger brother Bill and his grandchildren Lizzie, Earl and Lily. His later years were happiest spent watching Earl and Lily from the sidelines of their soccer games with his beloved dog Ollie. His cheering will be greatly missed.
